Young Apostles have secured promotion to the Ghana Premier League after defeating Techiman Heroes 4-3 in a penalty shootout in the Zone I play-off at the Accra sports stadium.
The game ended 1-1 in 90 minutes and failed to produce another goal in 30 minutes of extra time.
In the penalty shootouts, Young Apostles missed two spot-kicks after Techiman Heroes took the lead in the shootouts. However, the story changed when Emmanuel Owusu and Ebenezer Agyapong also missed their penalties for Techiman Heroes.
Suleman Yahaya Abu of Young Apostles scored the decisive penalty to secure a spot for his team for the first time in their history.
Young Apostles’ victory makes them the fifth team from the Bono Ahafo region to join the top-flight league, alongside Nsoatreman FC, Aduana Stars, Berekum Chelsea, and Bechem United.
