Black Queens forward Mukarama Abdulai says the team’s upcoming international friendly against Japan is not about the outcome but refining their tactics and preparations for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The match between Ghana’s Black Queens and Japan is scheduled for July 13 as both sides gear up for crucial tournaments. The Black Queens, who are returning to WAFCON for the first time since 2018, have begun their preparations and will soon fly to face Japan.
According to Abdulai, the international friendly will be a valuable exercise for the team.
“It will be a good exercise for us because we’ve really been working hard to get to the highest level of women’s football, and Japan is one of the teams that we are looking forward to playing against. We will show up and put out our best because it is a friendly, so we are not emphasizing the result but to see how we are going to work and what the coach expects us to do in a match,” Abdulai Mukarama said in an interview with the Black Queens media team.
She added, “We just want to say thank you to Ghanaians for their support. It is something that we appreciate so much, and they should keep their support behind us because we need it.”
Mukarama Abdulai was in fine form for the Black Princesses who won Gold at the 2023 African Games.
Meanwhile, Japan is also using the game as preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
