“We must avoid complacency.” – Otto Addo

Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo says Ghana can’t relax in the crucial World Cup qualifying game against the Central African Republic.

Ghana will lock horns with the Wild Beasts of Central African Republic on Monday, 10th June 2024 at the Baba Yara sports stadium in Kumasi.

The Black Stars of Ghana orchestrated a dramatic comeback against the Eagles of Mali last Thursday when they beat them 2-1 in Bamako. Ghana will be hoping to get the maximum points against the Central African Republic.

Speaking ahead of the clash, gaffer for Ghana Otto Addo admits the game will be a tough one against the CAR who have points so far.

“One thing is for sure, it’s going to be a very difficult game. For everyone who thinks it’s going to be easy, we hope it goes like that, but it’s really a difficult game. We can’t relax now.” The former Borussia Dortmund staff said.

Otto Addo also expressed his gratitude to the fans in Kumasi for their support so far and urged them to come support the team.

“I was really overwhelmed the last time we came here, to be honest  I didn’t expect that especially looking at our performance in AFCON and yet they cheered us up in numbers, it’s the reason why I love Kumasi fans. I love coming here, we need their support from the star to the end of the game.” He added.

The last time the two sides met in Ghana, the hosts beat CAR 2-1 to qualify for the 2023 AFCON.

Ghana are currently third in Group I with 6 points while the Central African Republic are fifth with 4 points. A win for the Black Stars will cushion them in a good spot for the rest of the qualifying games.
