US Open: Djokovic, Gauff Aim to Defend Titles

The 2024 US Open is set to begin, with defending champions Novak Djokovic and Coco Gauff looking to defend their titles. The tournament also features former champions Dominic Thiem and Sloane Stephens, who are eager to make a strong impact.

Djokovic Seeks Historic Accomplishment

Novak Djokovic, the reigning US Open champion, is aiming to become the first man since Roger Federer to successfully defend his title at Flushing Meadows. The Serbian superstar, who recently won Olympic singles gold in Paris, has faced a challenging season, losing the Australian Open and French Open titles to Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, respectively. Djokovic will begin his title defense against qualifier Albot, who is 0-11 against top-10 players.

Gauff Eyes Continued Success

Coco Gauff, the defending women’s singles champion, is looking to build on her breakthrough victory at last year’s US Open. The 20-year-old American has experienced mixed results this season, but her recent performances have shown that she is capable of competing at the highest level. Gauff will look to continue her winning ways against Gracheva, who she defeated in their only previous meeting.
