Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has highlighted the significance of the fierce competition for midfield positions as a key factor in the team’s pursuit of the Premier League title this season.
After a frustrating year plagued by injuries, the Ghana international is fully fit and determined to secure a starting role. Partey will face strong competition from new signing Declan Rice, Jorginho, and captain Martin Ødegaard for a place in Mikel Arteta’s lineup.
“We have a lot of players in that position,” Partey stated. “Jorgi is playing well, I am playing well. Dec is there, Martin (Ødegaard) too. We also have other players who can come in and make a difference. We have to compete against each other and at the end of the day, it is the Mister (Arteta) who decides. With this kind of competition, we can get to the level that we want to be at.”

Partey, who joined Arsenal in 2020, is committed to contributing significantly as the squad prepares to build on last season’s promising performance. His current contract runs until 2025, and his return to full fitness is expected to bolster Arsenal’s midfield options.
With the added depth and competition, Arsenal aims to strengthen their challenge for the Premier League title and continue their upward trajectory.
The Gunners lost the title to Manchester City in the last two seasons despite taking the lead of the Premier Lague table for several weeks.
This time around they are determined to make the necessary corrections as they chase their first league trophy in 21 years.
