Black Stars midfielder Thomas Partey has been ruled out of Ghana’s crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Sudan.
The Arsenal midfielder, along with Joseph Paintsil (LA Galaxy), Kingsley Schindler (Samsunspor), and Osman Ibrahim (Feyenoord), has withdrawn from the squad due to injuries and medical issues.
Partey, who was expected to lead the team in the absence of Andre Ayew, is reportedly facing medical concerns that have led Arsenal to request further tests, preventing him from traveling. He will remain in London during the international break.
Paintsil is suffering from hamstring pain in his left leg after LA Galaxy’s recent win, while Feyenoord’s Osman Ibrahim also sustained a hamstring injury during his side’s weekend match. Schindler, who had a medical emergency, was unable to travel to Accra.

In response to these absences, coach Otto Addo has called up four players to reinforce the squad: Michael Baidoo (Elfsborg), Abu Francis (Cercle Brugge), Jonas Adjetey (FC Basel), and Ibrahim Sadiq (AZ Alkmaar).
Ghana will host Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 10, before playing the reverse fixture on Tuesday, October 14, in Libya. The Black Stars are determined to secure maximum points from these crucial matches as they aim to qualify for AFCON 2025.
