Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has made a surprising return to football, accepting the role of Global Head of Soccer at Red Bull.
The 57-year-old will take on the position on January 1, 2025, after a brief hiatus following his departure from Anfield.
In a statement,Jürgen Klopp expressed his excitement for the new role, saying, “After almost 25 years on the sideline, I could not be more excited to get involved in a project like this. The role may have changed but my passion for football and the people who make the game what it is has not.”
Klopp’s appointment is a major boost for Red Bull, who have been rapidly expanding their football operations in recent years. As Global Head of Soccer, he will be responsible for overseeing the strategic management of the company’s international network of clubs. These clubs include RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg, and New York Red Bulls, among others.
The German tactician’s decision to join Red Bull comes after a highly successful stint at Liverpool, where he led the club to numerous domestic and continental titles. His charismatic personality, tactical acumen, and ability to inspire his players were instrumental in Liverpool’s success.
Despite previously indicating that he didn’t want to take on another coaching role in the near future, Klopp’s appointment at Red Bull suggests that he has found a new challenge that excites him. His experience and expertise will undoubtedly be invaluable to Red Bull as they continue to grow their football empire.
