Sports Ministry pays Black Princesses outstanding bonuses.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports have finally settled the outstanding bonuses of Ghana’s Women’s U20 national team, the Black Princesses.

The outstanding bonuses dates back to January 2023  for the three qualifying rounds of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Before the start of the African Games in March 2024, Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association, Gifty Oware promised that the outstanding bonuses of $6000 will be paid to each member of the Black Princesses team before the start of the African Games.

However, it turned out that the Ministry failed to fulfill it promises with the Black Princesses going on to clinch gold in the Women’s Football at the African Games.

The Ministry of Sports have now paid $4500 (an amount agreed on) for members of the team. The team have qualified for the FIFA U20 World Cup set to be staged in Colombia on 31st August.

Ghana has been housed in Group E with Japan, Austria and New Zeland.  The Princesses attempt to qualify from the group stages for the first time.
