FC Samartex defender, Emmanuel Adu Siaw, has called on all Ghanaians to rally behind the team as they prepare to make history in the CAF Champions League.
The newly crowned Ghana Premier League champions will face Cameroon’s Victoria United in the preliminary round of Africa’s most prestigious club competition.
“Samartex is no longer just a team for Samreboi; we represent Ghana as a whole,” Siaw told Joy Sports. “This is a monumental moment for Ghanaian football, and we need the support of everyone, including Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, and Hartifo fans.”
The first leg of the tie is set for Cameroon on August 18, with the return fixture scheduled for the Accra Sports Stadium the following weekend. Both Samartex and Victoria United are making their CAF Champions League debut, having won their respective domestic leagues for the first time.
Siaw, who made 18 appearances for Samartex in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season, emphasized the importance of unity among Ghanaian football fans. “Together, we can make history again,” he urged.
The team is currently in Cameroon, fine-tuning preparations for the crucial encounter.
