Ghanaian defender Isaac Afful has been called up to the Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Sudan.
The 25-year-old left-back is making his debut for the senior national team.
Afful has been in impressive form for FC Samartex this season, making six appearances in all competitions. He played a key role in helping Samartex win the Ghana Premier League title for the first time in their history last season, making 23 appearances.
Ghana will host Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on October 10 before traveling to Benina, Libya, for the return leg on October 15.
The Black Stars are currently third in Group I with one point and will be aiming to win both matches to improve their chances of qualifying for the 2025 AFCON tournament in Morocco.
Afful’s call-up is a reward for his consistent performances at club level. He will be hoping to make his debut for Ghana and contribute to the team’s success in the AFCON qualifier.
