New Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has already made his mark, demanding more from star striker Marcus Rashford. Amorim believes Rashford, who scored twice against Everton in their 4-0 Premier League win, has the potential for even greater things.
“He can play so much better, as can the other guys,” Amorim said. “He has to continue to improve.”
Joshua Zirkzee also scored twice for United in the game.
The Portuguese manager also praised young forward Amad Diallo for his impressive performance. “He was really good defending and really good attacking,” Amorim said. “He has to continue to play like that.”
While the 4-0 victory over Everton has lifted United’s spirits, Amorim remains grounded. He cautioned against setting unrealistic expectations, emphasizing the need to focus on each game. “Let’s focus just on the next game and look at the performance,” he said.
Manchester United moved to 9th position on the Premier League table with 19 points from 13 matches. The Red Devils face Arsenal on December 4th in their next Premier League game.
Since joining Manchester United, Amorim has drawn against Ipswich Town, defeated Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League, and won against Everton.
Marcus Rashford was also full of praise for Amorim and the new atmosphere at Old Trafford. “The energy and the atmosphere speak for itself,” he told BBC Match of the Day. “It is down to the players to create this in the stadium but the fans today… that is what we want to hear: Nothing but positivity and pushing the fans forward.”
“He [Ruben Amorim] is definitely demanding but there’s encouragement to bring your strengths into the game. That is when you get a really good team performance. Hopefully, we can build on this and keep pushing. It’s nothing to get overly excited by. We have to keep pushing every day to meet his demands.”
