Portugal Edge Closer to Euros with Hard-Fought Win Against Finland

Portugal secured a convincing 4-2 victory over Finland in a friendly match on Tuesday, June 4th, as they gear up for their Euro 2024 campaign in Germany.

Rúben Dias opened the scoring for Portugal in a dominant first half, with Diogo Jota doubling the lead from the penalty spot in the injury time of halftime.

Bruno Fernandes piled on the pressure in the second half, netting a goal in the 56th minute. Finland showed fight in the second period with Teemu Pukki grabbing a quickfire brace in the 72nd and 76th minutes, bringing the score to a tense 3-2.  However, Bruno Fernandes stepped up again, scoring his second of the night in the 84th minute to seal the win for Portugal.

This victory provides a confidence boost for Portugal as they turn their attention to their remaining friendlies against Croatia and Ireland on June 8th and 11th, respectively. The Euro tournament kicks off on June 14th, with Portugal facing Turkey, Georgia, and Czech Republic in Group F.
