Musah Lawson: Former Ghana Amateur Boxer Set to Return to the Ring

Musah Lawson: Ex-Ghana Amateur Boxer Set to Return to the Ring

Former Ghana amateur boxer, Musah Lawson, claims many boxers are avoiding him as he prepares for his return to the ring.  He will face a tough opponent, Alidu Sulemana, at the Bukom Boxing Arena on March 6, 2025.

In an exclusive interview on The Big Fight Night Show on Omashi TV, Lawson discussed how his extended amateur career has had both positive and negative impacts.  Despite this, he remains confident and ready to compete against the best.

Lawson, a former member of the Black Bombers, dedicated seven years to the national boxing team.  He expressed no regrets about his time with the team but cited a lack of professional fights in the four years since turning pro as a challenge.

“My aim and desire is to become a world champion in boxing or one of the best and well-known champions,” Lawson stated. “I was born into boxing, and boxing found me. I do not brag, but I know I am the best in my weight class. I want to appeal to managers and promoters to give me the opportunity.”

Lawson revealed that his two older brothers, who live in Canada, have supported him, including helping him win a national title belt.  However, his ambitions extend beyond national titles; he aims for continental and world championships and is seeking a manager and promoter who can help him reach that level.

Currently working with the Ghana Prisons Service, Lawson believes he has gained valuable experience and is ready to compete for bigger titles.  He explained that his only loss was in a rushed catchweight championship bout outside of Ghana, for which he was not adequately prepared.  He emphasized that he has learned from the experience and is committed to continuous improvement.

Lawson expressed his gratitude to his employers, the Ghana Prisons Service, for allowing him to participate in national sporting events such as the World Championship, African Games, Commonwealth Games, and Olympic Games qualifiers.  He also thanked his family, the Akrong brothers, his fans, and supporters.

He gave special recognition to his foundation coach, Dr. Ofori Asare of Wisdom Gym, his trainer at Ghana Prisons, Ebenezer Quaye, and Coach Sulemana, who has guided him through his professional journey.

“I really want to thank these people,” Lawson emphasized.

With his sights set on the future, Musah Lawson is ready to make his mark in the boxing world once again.
