Morocco secured the bronze medal in men’s football at the Paris 2024 Olympics with a commanding 5-0 win over Egypt in Nantes.
This marks Morocco’s first Olympic football medal.
Tarik Sektioui’s side bounced back impressively from their 2-1 semi-final defeat to Spain. The Atlas Lions dominated the match from the start, with Abde Ezzalzouli and Soufiane Rahimi giving Morocco a 2-0 lead by halftime.
Bilal El Khannouss extended the lead to 3-0 in the 51st minute, and Rahimi scored his second of the game and eighth of the tournament shortly after.
Akram Nakach furthered Morocco’s advantage to 5-0 in the 73rd minute, and Achraf Hakimi capped off the scoring with a stunning free-kick three minutes from time.

Egypt and Morocco Vie for Historic Bronze Medal in Olympic Men’s Football
The gold medal match will see hosts France take on Spain on Saturday at 17:00 BST.
Before competing in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Morocco’s Under-23 football team had never advanced beyond the group stages.
However, in this tournament, they made history by reaching the semi-finals. Although a defeat to Spain halted their pursuit of gold, Morocco seized the opportunity to secure a podium finish.
They achieved a historic milestone by claiming their first-ever Olympic medal with an impressive 6-0 victory over Egypt.
