West Ham United midfielder Mohammed Kudus has reignited speculation linking him to Liverpool by expressing his admiration for John Heitinga, who recently joined Liverpool’s backroom staff.
Kudus, 23, flourished under Heitinga’s interim management at Ajax, where he arguably reached the peak of his career before transferring to West Ham last summer.
The Black Stars player spoke highly of Heitinga, calling him the best coach he has worked with.
“I felt very good under Heitinga,” Kudus told Voetbal Primeur. “He is the best coach I have had at Ajax. Apart from the training aspect, I also hold him in high regard in terms of standards and values. Personally, I would have liked to have worked with him longer. He is a top trainer, and I really appreciated his efforts to make the players better at the time.”
Heitinga, who served as interim boss at Ajax, has joined Liverpool’s technical team under Arne Slot. This move is part of Liverpool’s strategy to bolster their staff ahead of the new season.

Kudus has emerged as a key player for West Ham since his move, and despite various clubs showing interest, he is expected to stay with the Hammers. However, his glowing remarks about Heitinga have fueled speculation about a potential future move to Liverpool.
Whether Kudus’ comments will prompt Liverpool to take action in the transfer market remains to be seen. For now, the Ghanaian star remains focused on his performances with West Ham, but his connection with Heitinga could be a storyline to watch in the coming months.
