The much-anticipated hearing into the 115 charges of Manchester City for alleged breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules has begun.
The allegations suggest that Cityzens breached financial rules between 2009 and 2018. The Premier League claims that City failed to provide accurate financial information, including club revenue, sponsorship income, and operating costs, which are essential for a “true and fair view” of the club’s financial position. Furthermore, the team is accused of not cooperating with the investigation.
Manchester City, however, strongly deny all charges, insisting that their case is supported by a “comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence.”
The club previously described the allegations as “entirely false,” attributing the claims to “illegal hacking and out-of-context publication of City emails” by the German newspaper Der Spiegel.

The hearing, expected to last approximately 10 weeks, will take place at the International Dispute Resolution Centre in London.
Since their takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008, the defending Premier League champions have achieved tremendous success, including winning eight Premier League titles, multiple domestic cups, and their first Champions League title.
Commenting on the situation, manager Pep Guardiola expressed hope for a swift resolution: “It starts soon and hopefully finishes soon. I am looking forward to the decision.” He added, “Everybody is innocent until guilt is proven. So we’ll see.”
As the proceedings begin on Monday, the football world awaits the outcome of a case that could have significant implications for Manchester City and the Premier League.
