Madueke confident teammate Enzo’s return will smooth over issues amid disciplinary proceedings

Chelsea winger Noni Madueke has expressed optimism about the situation surrounding Enzo Fernandez, who is set to rejoin the squad despite ongoing disciplinary proceedings related to alleged racism.

Fernandez, who has been at the center of controversy following accusations from team-mate Wesley Fofana, is scheduled to return to Chelsea’s squad on Monday, July 29.

The midfielder was reportedly involved in a controversial song with “racist and discriminatory” lyrics after Argentina’s Copa America victory, which has led to a disciplinary review by the French Football Federation and an investigation by FIFA.

The 23-year-old Fernandez has issued apologies both directly to his Chelsea team-mates and publicly, with the club initiating an internal disciplinary procedure.

Madueke, who started Chelsea’s 2-2 draw against Wrexham in the first pre-season friendly under new manager Enzo Maresca, reassured fans and media that the matter will be resolved internally.

“That’s something that’s between us players,” said Madueke. “Enzo is going to come back and join his team again and everything is going to be fine.”

Chelsea captain Reece James has also signaled his willingness to mediate if needed. The team continues their pre-season tour in the United States, with upcoming matches against Celtic, Club America, Manchester City, and Real Madrid.

Maresca, who has replaced Mauricio Pochettino as Chelsea’s manager, previously stated that the situation was “already clear and clarified” and assured there would be “no problems at all.”

Madueke ttalks tactics under Enzo Maresca

Madueke, who typically plays on the right wing, also spoke about adapting to Maresca’s new tactics. “You’ve got to stay high and wide and be very patient at times,” he explained.

“A lot of the time you might not get touches in lower areas of the pitch, but it’s about staying high and waiting for that killer pass when you can go and do real damage.”

As Chelsea prepares for the new season, the focus remains on integrating Maresca’s style of play and resolving internal issues as the squad gears up for a demanding campaign.
