Charles Taylor, a former Black Stars midfielder, said Laryea Kingston, a former Black Starlets coach, is a much better tactician than Otto Addo.
Laryea Kingston has been in the news after resigning following a 2-1 loss to Burkina Faso at the recent WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship in Ghana. Even though they didn’t reach the finals, Charles Taylor believes he’s a better coach than Otto Addo.
“In Ghana, speaking the truth often makes you appear bad to many, but I would rather tell the truth and get nothing than lie for gain. When you consider the type of coach he is and the way Laryea works, he’s better than Otto Addo,” Taylor told Peace FM.
Kingston impressively led the Black Starlets in the WAFU tournament, winning 5-1 against Ivory Coast and 2-0 against Benin to reach the semi-finals. However, his resignation following a loss to Burkina Faso has raised concerns among Ghanaian football fans.
Otto Addo, after failing to make a mark at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar with the Black Stars, has another opportunity after returning to take charge for the second time to guide the team through the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with the hope of making it to the Mundial.
