Kwesi Appiah sends important message to Ghana following latest AFCON qualification draw

Former Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah has issued a crucial piece of advice to the Ghana national team as they gear up for the AFCON 2025 qualification.

Following the draw held in Johannesburg, South Africa, Ghana has been placed in Group F alongside Sudan, Angola, and Niger.

Appiah, who now coaches the Sudanese national team, highlighted the importance of thorough preparation in securing a successful qualification.

Despite the presence of teams with relatively low profiles, he cautioned against underestimating any opponent.

“I’ve always said there are no minnows in football now,” Appiah told 3Sports. “It is really important that any team you meet, you prepare very well and make sure you have the right team to try and win the day.”

Kwesi Appiah targets qualification for both Ghana and Sudan

Appiah expressed his desire for both Ghana and Sudan to advance from the group, underscoring the need for respect and careful preparation for all opponents. “Personally, I also think and hope Ghana and Sudan qualify in that group. For now, I think that is what I can say, and I wish both teams the best,” he added.

With two teams expected to qualify from each group, Appiah is optimistic about the prospects for both Ghana and Sudan. The former Black Stars coach, who led Ghana to the 2019 AFCON where they were eliminated by Tunisia in the round of 16, is well aware of the tournament’s challenges and the significance of adequate preparation.

Ghana’s journey to AFCON 2025 will require a strong focus and respect for all competitors in Group F. As the qualification matches approach, Appiah’s advice serves as a reminder of the importance of preparation and the unpredictable nature of football.
