Kurt Zouma’s move to UAE falls through after failed medical

Kurt Zouma’s proposed transfer to United Arab Emirates (UAE) side Shabab Al-Ahli has been scrapped after the West Ham defender failed his medical examination.

The 29-year-old French international had traveled to Dubai to finalize the move, which was set to be a lucrative deal. However, due to the medical issues, Zouma’s advisors are now exploring alternative options for the experienced centre-back.

Zouma, who has one year remaining on his contract with West Ham, was initially set to join Shabab Al-Ahli after West Ham bolstered their defensive options with new signings.

The Hammers have recently secured the services of Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice on a loan deal that includes a £34.22m obligation to purchase. Additionally, West Ham invested £40m to acquire Max Kilman from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Since joining West Ham from Chelsea in a £29m deal in 2021, Zouma has made 103 appearances for the club and was pivotal in their 2023 Europa Conference League final win over Fiorentina. He has also served as the club captain following Declan Rice’s move to Arsenal.

Kurt Zouma’s achievements include winning the Premier League and the Champions League during his time at Chelsea. With the collapse of his move to Shabab Al-Ahli, the French defender will now need to find a new path forward.
