Arsenal’s co-chair, Josh Kroenke, has offered insight into the club’s decision to extend Mikel Arteta’s contract until 2027.
Kroenke praised the Spanish manager for his dynamic approach and relentless pursuit of excellence, stating, “Mikel is a dynamic and passionate manager, who is relentless in the pursuit of excellence. He has a deep understanding of Arsenal’s values, and since joining us as Head Coach in December 2019, he has taken the team to another level in an Arsenal way.”
The Arsenal co-chair highlighted Arteta’s role in reshaping the squad and club culture, emphasizing his understanding of Arsenal’s traditions and vision. Under Arteta’s guidance, Arsenal have secured one FA Cup and two Community Shields, showcasing their progress and ambition.
Josh Kroenke also remained upbeat about the club’s future under Mikel Arteta. “There is a great collective team spirit at the club, and with the strong relationships we hold between us and belief in what we do, we look forward with excitement and confidence, as we continue our aim – to win together,” Kroenke added, signalling a clear ambition to return Arsenal to the top of English football.
Arsenal’s sporting director, Edu, also backed Kroenke and said that the new contract gives the club “stability and clear direction as we strive for greater advancements.’’
Currently, Arsenal sit fourth in the Premier League after three matches and are preparing for a crucial North London derby against Tottenham, a match that will test the team’s early-season form.
