Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has suffered a calf injury in training, potentially sidelining him for England’s Nations League opener against the Republic of Ireland on September 7 and their second fixture against Finland on September 10.
The 21-year-old was unable to complete a training session on Friday.
Reports from Spain indicate that Bellingham will be out of action until late September, missing at least the first two matches under interim England manager Lee Carsley.
In a statement, Real Madrid confirmed that Bellingham underwent medical tests on his right calf and that his “progress will be monitored.”
Bellingham had a standout debut season at the Bernabeu, scoring 23 goals in 42 appearances and contributing to Madrid’s La Liga and Champions League double.

He featured in last weekend’s 1-1 La Liga draw at Mallorca and played a key role in the Super Cup victory over Atalanta earlier this month.
Carsley, appointed interim manager following Gareth Southgate’s resignation after Euro 2024, is expected to announce his squad for the Nations League fixtures on August 29.
He will be assisted by former England left-back Ashley Cole, ex-England centre-back Joleon Lescott, and the Football Association’s head of coaching, Tim Dittmer.
