Former Manchester United and Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata has expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Western Sydney Wanderers.
The 36-year-old Spaniard, who recently signed a one-year contract with the Australian club, is eager to embark on a new chapter in his career.
Juan Mata, who was a highly sought-after free agent after leaving Vissel Kobe in January 2024, chose the Wanderers for their strong reputation and history of success. “I’m really excited to join the Western Sydney Wanderers, the only Australian team to ever win the Asian Champions League,” he said. “I cannot wait to arrive and train with the team to prepare for the season.”
The Spanish playmaker, who has won multiple titles with top European clubs, including the Champions League and FA Cup with Chelsea in 2012 and the Europa League in 2013, is eager to add another championship to his trophy cabinet. Mata was also part of the Spain squad that won the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012.
