Leicester City have secured the signing of Ghana forward Jordan Ayew on a two-year contract from Crystal Palace in a deal valued at an initial £5 million. The fee could rise to £8 million with add-ons.
Ayew, who has spent the last six years at Crystal Palace, initially joined the Eagles on loan in 2018 before making his move permanent. During his time at Selhurst Park, he made 212 appearances and scored 23 goals. He most recently featured as a second-half substitute in Palace’s 2-1 defeat to Brentford.
Leicester’s new boss, Steve Cooper, has been keen to bolster his attacking options, and Ayew’s arrival follows the signing of midfielder Oliver Skipp from Tottenham for £20 million earlier this week.
“I’m very happy to be here and I’m proud. I want to thank the club as they fought hard to bring me here – it happened quickly and I’m so happy to be here,” Ayew said.

He added, “As a player, when you hear that the manager wants you, it just makes you want to come and work under him and to try to improve. Even though I’m 32, as a player you always want to learn and improve. I’m here to work hard and help the team achieve their targets.”
Leicester City, who were promoted back to the Premier League this season, began their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Tottenham, with Jamie Vardy scoring the equalizer. The Foxes will face Fulham in their next league match on Saturday.
