Jack Draper beats Alex de Minaur to reach US Open semis

Jack Draper reached new heights at the US Open as he defeated Alex de Minaur in straight sets, winning 6-3, 7-5, 6-2 to secure his place in the semi-finals.

The 22-year-old Briton showcased his talent, grit, and determination on the iconic Arthur Ashe Stadium, becoming the first British man to reach the last four in New York since Andy Murray’s title win in 2012.

Draper, who had been dealing with a leg issue during the match, received treatment early in the second set, while De Minaur, the 10th seed from Australia, appeared to struggle with his own injury problems. Despite these challenges, Draper dominated the match, demonstrating superior skill and composure throughout.

In his post-match interview, Draper expressed his excitement about playing on such a prestigious court for the first time, stating, “Honestly, to be out here in my first match on the biggest court in the world is a dream come true.”

He acknowledged De Minaur’s competitive spirit, saying, “Credit to Alex; he’s an amazing fighter and an unbelievable player.”

With this victory, Jack Draper continues to impress, having not dropped a set throughout the tournament.

He will face either world number one Jannik Sinner or 2021 champion Daniil Medvedev in the semi-finals on Friday. Draper’s performance has drawn comparisons to fellow Brit Emma Raducanu’s stunning 2021 title run, further highlighting the bright future of British tennis.
