Brazil football legend Ronaldinho has refused to support the national team at the upcoming Copa América.
The former star cited a decline in quality that he finds alarming and feels sorry for their fans.
Ronaldinho, who won the trophy with Brazil in 1999 and the World Cup in 2002, lamented what he perceives as a significant downturn in the team’s standard.
He criticised the current squad, describing it as one of the worst in recent memory. The former AC Milan star added that the team lacked respectable leaders and was comprised mostly of average players.
“It’s difficult to find the energy to watch the games,” Ronaldinho wrote in a candid post on Instagram, “There’s a lack of love for the shirt, a lack of determination, and most importantly, a lack of football. The performance has been one of the worst things I’ve ever seen. It’s a shame.”
The former Barcelona man emphasised his long-standing love for football and expressed his disillusionment with the current state of the Brazilian national team. He therefore declared that he won’t watch any Copa América games and won’t celebrate if Brazil manages to win the tournament.
🚨🇧🇷 Ronaldinho: “That’s it guys, I will not watch any Brazil game at the Copa América nor celebrate any victory”.
“I’ve had enough. It’s a sad moment for those who love Brazilian football. It’s hard now to find the spirit to watch the games”.

The nine-time champions begin their campaign against Costa Rica on June 24, with subsequent matches against Colombia and Paraguay in Group D.
