Hearts of Oak have concluded their pursuit of Dreams FC goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi, following a challenging season where goalkeeping issues plagued the team.
The Phobians faced significant struggles with their goalkeeping department during the recently concluded Ghana Premier League campaign.
Despite rotating more than three goalkeepers, the team conceded several poor goals, contributing to a disappointing season that saw them finish 14th in the league standings.
To address these issues ahead of the new season, Hearts of Oak identified Solomon Agbasi as a potential solution to their goalkeeping woes. The club initiated talks with Dreams FC regarding a possible acquisition of the talented shot-stopper.
However, sources indicate that Agbasi, who delivered top-class performances for Dreams FC during their Africa campaign, is more interested in pursuing a move abroad.
Additionally, it has been reported that Agbasi sustained an injury that will rule him out of action for several weeks, further complicating the potential transfer.
As a result, Hearts of Oak will now need to look elsewhere in their search for a new goalkeeper ahead of the upcoming season. The Phobians are currently in talks with Great Olympics goalkeeper Benjamin Asare and Accra Lions’ Andrews Owusu regarding possible moves to strengthen their squad.
Solomon Agbasi played a pivotal role in Dreams FC’s journey to the semifinals of the Confederations Cup and was named the best goalkeeper of the Africa campaign due to his outstanding performances. Despite missing out on Agbasi, Hearts of Oak remain determined to bolster their goalkeeping options as they prepare for the new season.
