Ghanaian midfielder Michael Baidoo emerged as the hero for Elfsborg, guiding the Swedish side to a sensational 1-0 victory over Italian giants AS Roma in the Europa League.
The 26-year-old converted from the penalty spot in the 44th minute to give the Swedish side a vital three points.
Baidoo’s goal proved to be the winner as Roma were unable to find a way back into the game in the second half. The victory moved Elfsborg up to 16th position in the Europa League table with three points from two matches.
Baidoo played 86 minutes of the game before being replaced by Per Frik. His fellow Ghanaians, Terry Yegbe and Jalal Abdullai, also featured for Elfsborg.
The win was a major boost for Elfsborg, who will now face Sirius in their next league game on October 6.
Michael Baidoo has been in outstanding form this season, scoring 14 goals and providing seven assists in 38 matches across all competitions.
