Southampton winger Kamaldeen Sulemana has been ruled out of the club’s Premier League season opener against Newcastle United due to an injury.
The 22-year-old Ghanaian sustained the injury during Southampton’s recent 2-0 defeat to Oxford United.
Southampton manager Martin Russell confirmed the setback, stating, “Kamaldeen will be out for three weeks.”
This injury will prevent Sulemana from participating in Southampton’s season opener at St. James’ Park on August 17, 2024.
The news comes ahead of Southampton’s preseason fixtures, including a match against Lazio on Wednesday, August 9, and a subsequent game against Spanish La Liga side Getafe on Saturday, August 10.

The injury is a blow to Southampton as they prepare for their return to the Premier League following relegation after the 2022-2023 season.
Sulemana, who made 25 appearances for Southampton last season and contributed three assists, was a key player for the Saints during their campaign in the Championship.
