Ghanaian defender Alidu Seidu has suffered another injury setback, this time during Rennes’ 1-0 defeat to Lille in Ligue 1 on Sunday.
The 26-year-old centre-back was forced off the pitch after just 18 minutes, replaced by Mikayil Faye.
The injury comes just a week after Seidu made a quick recovery from a previous injury sustained during Ghana’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola.
Rennes’ hopes of securing a positive result were dashed by Edon Zhegrova’s lone goal, which sealed a seventh league defeat for the club this season. The loss leaves Rennes in 15th place in the Ligue 1 table with 11 points from 12 matches.
When asked about Seidu’s injury, Rennes coach Jorge Sampaoli stated, “I can’t diagnose him; we will do tests tomorrow.” The club’s next fixture is against Saint-Étienne on November 30.
Alidu Seidu has been a key player for Rennes this season, making 11 appearances in the league. His latest injury is a major blow to the club’s defensive line and will likely keep him side-lined for a period.
