The Ghana Cycling Federation (GCF), led by Vice President Riyahd Mohammend and Deputy Secretary General Joseph K Addo, showed strong support at the 2024 PRURide launch held at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
Speaking on behalf of the GCF, Mr. Addo expressed their pride in being associated with PRURide. He commended Prudential Life Insurance Ghana for their consistent efforts in promoting cycling in Ghana, which has led to a surge in the sport’s popularity.
Since 2019, Prudential has consistently invested resources to boost cycling’s popularity in Ghana.
“We are grateful to the organizers, Carbon AV, and the main sponsor, Prudential Life Insurance Ghana, for this annual cycling event that promotes health and wellness and raises awareness of cycling as a sport,” Mr. Addo said. “This aligns perfectly with our mission and vision to promote and develop cycling in all its forms including transportation, recreation, excessive and competitive sports.
The Deputy Secretary General for GCF emphasized the importance of cycling within the broader context of achieving sustainable development goals.
“We hope everyone, especially corporate Ghana, will follow this example and support cycling and other underfunded sports in Ghana that struggle with limited resources,” he added.
The event will feature participation from the National Cycling Federations of Togo, Benin, and Nigeria. Competitions like PRURide are seen as a crucial platform for developing cyclists who can compete in future Olympic Games and the Tour de France, which is the ultimate aspiration for all cycling federations.
Mr Addo assured Prudential Life Insurance that this year’s edition of PRURide will be big in terms of participation and security.
