Assistant coach of the Black Princesses, Anita Wiredu-Minta has revealed that the target of the Black Princesses of Ghana is to qualify from the group stage of the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Ghana have qualified for the 2024 World Cup to be staged in Colombia after an impressive qualifiers. However, upon qualifying for the seventh consecutive time for the tournament, the team is yet to qualify to the knockout stages of the World Cup.
Speaking on their preparations for the tournament earmarked to start on 31st August 2024, assistant coach, Anita Wiredu is optimistic of breaking that jinx.
“This one, it’s like a goal for the whole team to get past the group stage, to break that jinx, that record, to make a record,” she told the GFA.
“And that is what we’ve put in all in the preparations, not just to go and participate, but to go and then break that record, get out of the group stage, make an impact in the World Cup.
“It puts a little pressure on us. I see it as a good form of a challenge for us to get past the group stage.”
Ghana have been housed in Group E with Japan, New Zealand and Austria.
