Black Stars forward Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has opened up about the challenges of adapting to the English Premier League, describing it as “more intense” than the Championship following his impressive debut for Leicester City.
The 20-year-old made his first Premier League appearance on Monday night, playing a crucial role in Leicester City’s 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur.
Issahaku, who recently signed a five-year deal with the Foxes after a standout season in the Championship, provided the assist for Jamie Vardy’s equalising goal.
Reflecting on his debut, Issahaku expressed his excitement and highlighted the differences between England’s top two divisions. “It was a great feeling and it is great to take a point out of it. I am so happy, it is a dream come true for me,” Issahaku said in a post-match interview.
He further elaborated on the contrast between the leagues, noting, “There is a difference in the Premier League because it is more intense and involves more running. You have to keep on coping with the team. There are differences, but we keep going.”
Issahaku’s comments shed light on the heightened physical demands and faster pace of the Premier League, something that many players acknowledge as a significant step up from the Championship.
Issahaku focused on long season
Despite the challenges, the Ghanaian winger is determined to adapt quickly and continue making an impact for Leicester City.
With his first Premier League experience now under his belt, Issahaku is focused on building momentum as Leicester City prepares for their upcoming match against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
As the season progresses, Issahaku’s ability to cope with the increased intensity of the top flight will be crucial for both his development and Leicester’s ambitions.
