In a distressing moment during the Hungary vs Scotland match in the Euro 2024, Hungary’s Barnabás Varga had to be stretchered off the field following a collision with Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn.
The incident left Varga on the floor, surrounded by concerned teammates who formed a protective border around him as medical staff attended to his injuries.
Captain Dominik Szoboszlai was visibly emotional, rushing to aid the medical team in getting the stretcher to Varga as quickly as possible.

Despite the 10 minutes of additional time due to the injury, Hungary managed to secure a late winner through Kevin Csoboth.
This crucial goal marked their first win in Euro 2024, following two consecutive losses. Hungary now have three points and will have to wait to see if this is enough to qualify them for the next stage as one of the best third-placed sides.
In the other Group A match, Germany salvaged a point with a 1-1 draw against Switzerland. The hosts, Germany, top the group with seven points, while Switzerland, with five points, are also through to the round of 16. Both teams now await their opponents in the next stage of the tournament.
The football community’s thoughts and prayers are with Varga, hoping for his speedy recovery.
