Harry Kane has revealed that the pain of England’s Euro 2024 final defeat continues to motivate him as he enters a new chapter with interim manager Lee Carsley.
The Bayern Munich striker is set to earn his 99th England cap when they face the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on September 7. It will be England’s opening match in the Uefa Nations League.
Speaking ahead of the match, Kane admitted that he has not fully recovered from the disappointment of losing 2-1 to Spain in the final. “It’s tough when you get so close to achieving one of your biggest career goals and it’s taken away,” he said. “It makes me even more motivated to try and get there. Our task is to get better.”
The England skipper expressed his desire to continue playing at the highest level for many years to come, citing Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric, and Lionel Messi as inspirations. Kane believes he is in excellent physical and mental condition to have another successful season.
Harry Kane described the start of Carsley’s interim spell in charge as “another exciting chapter in my England career.” He acknowledged that the team is adapting to a new style of play but expressed optimism about the future.
As England prepares to face the Republic of Ireland in the UEFA Nations League, Kane’s determination and leadership will be crucial. The team will be aiming to bounce back from the Euro 2024 final defeat and continue their journey towards future success.
