Ghanaian forward Emmanuel Gyasi shared his insights after Empoli’s impressive 2-1 win over AS Roma in Serie A.
The 30-year-old striker praised his team’s preparation and performance, highlighting the collective effort that led to the victory.
“We prepared the game well and won against a great team,” Gyasi stated, emphasizing the team’s focus in the lead-up to the match.
His goal, which put Empoli ahead just before halftime, was the result of meticulous preparation. “The coach had studied the goal situation well during the week; it was a plan: attack at the far post,” Gyasi explained.
He admitted that his confidence was high even before the goal, saying, “I tried at 0-0, but I was already thinking about how to celebrate, then it went well.”
Empoli’s game plan, particularly their attacking strategy, paid off as Lorenzo Colombo doubled their lead in the 61st minute. Despite a late goal from Roma forward Eldor Shomurodov in the 80th minute, Empoli held on to secure the win, bringing their points tally to 4 from the first two games of the season.
Empoli’s assistant manager, Salvatore Sullo, also praised the team’s effort, emphasizing the importance of their collective commitment. “For us, it’s a great result. Our goal is long-term. We have to enjoy it, but we have to understand that a great match was needed to get this result. To achieve these results, everyone must give 100%,” Sullo remarked.
Gyasi’s impressive display earned him a rating of 7.0 from SofaScore, reflecting his significant contribution to Empoli’s win. The team will look to build on their strong start of the season as they face Bologna in their next league encounter on August 31.
Emmanuel Gyasi joined Empoli in the summer of 2023 from Spezia and went on to make 33 appearances, scoring one goal and providing three assists in his debut season across all competitions.
