Ghanaian midfielder Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has suffered a significant setback in his recovery from a previous injury.
The 28-year-old SC Freiburg midfielder, who had been recovering from a torn left cruciate ligament, is experiencing renewed issues due to increased strain on his knee. Consequently, Kyereh will undergo another surgery to address the problem.
Kyereh has departed SC Freiburg’s training camp in Schruns to prepare for the upcoming operation, which aims to evaluate his treatment options and load management moving forward.
This surgery marks the second time Kyereh has faced a torn cruciate ligament in his left knee, extending his absence from the field.
Initially, a year was projected for Kyereh’s recovery, but this timeline has been significantly exceeded.
With his recovery now estimated to stretch to approximately 18 months, the latest setback could delay his return even further, likely extending his absence well beyond the current season.

As a result, it is increasingly likely that Kyereh will miss a substantial portion of the season, with a return before the end of the calendar year appearing unlikely.

His injury troubles have cast doubt on both his international future with the Black Stars and his role with SC Freiburg. The talented midfielder, who played a crucial role in Ghana’s 2022 World Cup campaign, has been sidelined for nearly a year and faces an uncertain road ahead.
As Kyereh prepares for his surgery, both his club and international fans will be hoping for a successful procedure and a swift recovery.
