Carlos Alcaraz claims second straight Wimbledon title win over Djokovic

Carlos Alcaraz breezed past Novak Djokovic on Sunday to secure his second consecutive Wimbledon title, defeating the men’s all-time leader in Grand Slam victories in straight sets.

The 21-year-old Spaniard clinched the championship with a 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) victory, marking his fourth Grand Slam title overall.

Alcaraz reached the final by overcoming Daniil Medvedev in a semifinal clash, winning 6-7 (1), 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. In contrast, Djokovic had a slightly smoother path, defeating Lorenzo Musetti 6-4, 7-6 (2), 6-3 to secure his spot in the championship match.

The finale was attended by Kate, the Princess of Wales, making a rare public appearance since announcing her cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

She was accompanied by her daughter Charlotte, 9, and her sister, Pippa Middleton Matthews.

Djokovic, who holds 24 Grand Slam singles titles, faced a formidable challenge from Alcaraz. At 37, the Serbian star’s opportunities for adding to his Grand Slam tally may become increasingly scarce.

Alcaraz’s victory reinforces his status as one of tennis’s brightest young talents, continuing his rapid ascent in the sport.
