Can Mason Mount Overcome His Injury Woes at Manchester United?

Mason Mount: Can the Man United Star Overcome Injury Woes?

Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount is facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a fresh injury in the recent Manchester derby.

The 25-year-old was forced off after just 14 minutes of the 2-1 victory over Manchester City, marking yet another frustrating setback in his injury-plagued spell at Old Trafford.

“Several weeks,” was the grim prognosis delivered by United manager Ruben Amorim, who confirmed the extent of Mount’s injury following a specialist consultation.

This latest setback will be a significant blow for Mason Mount, who has struggled to find consistency since his high-profile move from Chelsea last summer. In 18 months at the club, the England international has completed a full 90 minutes on just one occasion, highlighting the persistent injury issues that have hampered his progress.

Amorim acknowledged the challenges posed by Mount’s frequent injuries, stating, “The worst part is that we don’t have time to train like we should do after a lot of injuries. It’s really hard to recreate the game before they come to the game. With Mason, we are going to help him. It’s really hard for the player to be out for so long. He’s trying really hard. If they try really hard we will help him to the end.”

Meanwhile, the future of another key United attacker, Marcus Rashford, remains uncertain. Rashford recently expressed his desire for a “new challenge” and has been omitted from the squad for recent matches, including the Carabao Cup exit against Tottenham Hotspur. However, Amorim insists that Rashford’s exclusion from the Tottenham match was not related to his public statements, reiterating that his selection decisions are based solely on training performances.

Manchester United take on Bournemouth on December 22 in the Premier League.
