Nsoatreman FC coach Yaw Preko has attributed his side’s 3-0 win over Chad’s Elect Sport in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup to a slow start and subsequent tactical adjustments.
Speaking after the match at the Accra Sports Stadium, Preko admitted that his team was jittery in the opening 15 minutes of the game but gradually found their rhythm. “We didn’t start the game very well. The way we wanted. The first 15 minutes I think we were a bit jittery but gradually we warmed ourselves into the game,” he said.
The breakthrough came in the 31st minute when Abdul Rahman gave the Ghana FA Cup holders the lead. Just two minutes later, Kwabena Adu Meider doubled Nsoatreman’s advantage. The scoring was completed in the 35th minute when Abdul Rahman netted his second of the afternoon.
The gaffer revealed the tactical tweak that unlocked the game for his side. “I told my boys when they come high we play one-two then we go long. It started working and the goal came, the confidence came and the boys started playing good football,” Preko added.
The victory marked Nsoatreman’s first win in their debut CAF Confederation Cup campaign, a feat the coach will be hoping to build on in the second leg scheduled for N’Djamena on August 24.
With a comfortable lead, Nsoatreman will travel to Chad with the advantage but Preko will be wary of complacency as they aim to secure qualification to the next round of the competition
