Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka has been forced to withdraw from the England squad for Sunday’s Nations League game against Finland due to an injury sustained during Thursday’s match against Greece.
The 23-year-old was substituted early in the second half after feeling discomfort in his right leg.
Saka’s withdrawal is a significant blow for England, who are already missing several key players due to injuries. The Arsenal star has been in excellent form this season, scoring three goals in 10 appearances for the Gunners. His absence will be felt in the England attack.
Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, who was added to the England squad earlier this week, has also withdrawn due to a personal commitment.
England captain Harry Kane and midfielder Jack Grealish returned to training on Saturday after missing the Greece game with knocks. The 22-man squad will fly out to Helsinki on Saturday afternoon to prepare for Sunday’s match against Finland.
England are currently second in League B Group 2 of the UEFA Nations League with six points from their opening three matches. A victory over Finland would keep them in contention for promotion to League A.
