Black Stars midfielder Majeed Ashimeru has signed a fresh contract with Belgian giants RSC Anderlecht, preparing for the 2024–25 season.
The 26-year-old, who had one year remaining on his existing contract, chose to extend his stay despite interest from other clubs.
Ashimeru, who joined Anderlecht in 2021 from Red Bull Salzburg for a reported fee of €1.5 million, has been a key player in the midfield. His new contract, which secures him at the club until 2027, underscores Anderlecht’s commitment to building around his talents.
A club statement confirmed the extension, stating: “Majeed Ashimeru has extended his contract with RSC Anderlecht until 2027. The Ghanaian midfielder has thus signed for two extra seasons.”
Despite injury setbacks limiting his appearances to 12 last season, Majeed Ashimeru has made a significant impact since joining, amassing over 100 appearances and becoming a crucial figure in the midfield.
“In the last three seasons at RSC Anderlecht, I have grown as a player and as a person. I’m very grateful to both the club and the fans for their continued support over the past years,” Ashimeru told the club’s official website.
Ashimeru’s extension is seen as a significant boost for Anderlecht as they aim to compete strongly in the upcoming season. His experience and skill in midfield are expected to be vital assets for the team.
