The Black Princesses have commenced their training camp in Cape Coast with 35 players as they prepare for the upcoming U20 Women’s FIFA World Cup in Colombia.
Under the guidance of coach Yussif Basigi, the team aims to finalise a formidable squad in the coming weeks to showcase their talent on the world stage for the seventh consecutive time.
The players reported to camp on Thursday, June 27, 2024, ahead of the tournament, which is set to take place from August 31 to September 22, 2024.
The Ghana U20 side hopes to build on their recent successes and break the jinx of reaching the knockout phase of the competition for the first time.
Last year, Yussif Basigi’s team won the U20 WAFU Girls Competition in Kumasi and later clinched gold at the 2023 African Games in Accra.
As they prepare for the World Cup, the focus will be on advancing past the group stage and making history. Ghana, making their seventh consecutive appearance at the biennial tournament, is scheduled to open their campaign against Austria in their Group E opener, followed by matches against New Zealand and Japan.
The Black Princesses’ preparation and performance in the coming weeks will be crucial in determining their success on the world stage, with the team’s sights set on surpassing previous achievements and making a significant impact at the U20 Women’s FIFA World Cup.
