Bechem United have initiated legal proceedings against Tanzanian club Young Africans (Yanga) by reporting them to FIFA over an unpaid transfer fee concerning former Kotoko forward Augustine Okrah.
The transfer, valued at approximately $120,000, saw Yanga initially paying only $20,000 to secure the International Transfer Certificate (ITC) for Okrah.
However, the remaining $100,000 remains unpaid.
In addition to the outstanding transfer fee, Yanga owe Okrah part of his signing-on fees, salaries, and winning bonuses. Okrah has warned that if the dues are not settled soon, he will also report the matter to FIFA.
Bechem United, frustrated by Yanga’s continued non-payment despite persistent follow-ups, has decided to seek intervention from football’s global governing body to resolve the matter.
As the dispute escalates, Bechem United and Augustine Okrah are both hopeful that FIFA’s intervention will expedite the payment process and ensure compliance with the terms agreed upon during the transfer.
