Barcelona secures Dani Olmo in €60 million deal from RB Leipzig

Barcelona has completed the signing of Spain playmaker Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig for a reported fee of €60 million (£51 million).

The 26-year-old, who previously played at Barcelona’s youth academy, returns to the Catalan club on a six-year contract, featuring a release clause set at €500 million (£429 million).

Olmo, who was instrumental in Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph, where he was a joint top-scorer with three goals, brings a wealth of talent to Barcelona’s midfield.

The club praised Olmo’s individual skill and his ability to connect with teammates, noting his knack for scoring from various positions on the pitch.

During his time with RB Leipzig, Dani Olmo won two German Cups and made a significant impact since joining in 2020.

Reflecting on his time at Leipzig, Olmo expressed gratitude, saying, “A young club, a young player. We grew up, won our first trophies and made history together. Thank you RB Leipzig, you’ll forever be in my heart.”
