Asamoah Gyan Foundation Backs WBO Africa Champion John Laryea’s Quest for World Title

he Asamoah Gyan Foundation has thrown its weight behind John Laryea, affectionately known as the ‘Expensive Boxer,’ to elevate Ghana’s boxing prowess on the global stage. Under the mentorship of Coach Carl Lokko at the renowned Bronx Gym in James Town, near Bukom, Laryea holds the WBO Africa Featherweight title and remains undefeated in 14 bouts, with one draw. He is now setting his sights on a shot at the world title.

Laryea’s journey to the top is further bolstered by his international manager, Peter Kahn, who is facilitating training camps and fights in the United States. With the guidance of Coach Carl Lokko, who has previously steered Richard Commey to IBF Lightweight glory, Laryea’s prospects for capturing a world title are promising.

Speaking to the press about the Foundation’s support for Laryea’s ambitions, CEO Mr. Sammy Anim Addo expressed confidence in the young pugilist’s potential to ascend to boxing stardom. Addo emphasized the Foundation’s commitment to nurturing talent, citing qualities such as character, dedication, and discipline as pivotal criteria for their support. Notably, the Foundation has previously backed former IBO Lightweight Champion, Emmanuel Tagoe, among others.
