Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah is on the verge of joining Crystal Palace after negotiations between the two clubs reached an advanced stage.
The South London outfit is expected to finalize a deal worth £25 million plus £5 million in potential add-ons for the 25-year-old striker.
Nketiah, who has been a peripheral figure in Arsenal’s recent campaigns, is eager for a fresh start and a more prominent role in a new team. Crystal Palace have been tracking his progress and believe he can be a valuable addition to their squad. Personal terms are not anticipated to be an obstacle in finalizing the deal.
Earlier this summer, Eddie Nketiah was linked with a move to Marseille, but those talks fell through due to differences in valuation. Nottingham Forest also expressed interest but were unable to reach an agreement.
At Selhurst Park, Palace are looking to bolster their attacking options following the departure of Jordan Ayew to Leicester City. Manager Oliver Glasner sees Nketiah as a key addition to his forward line, joining Jean-Philippe Mateta and Odsonne Edouard.
While Mateta enjoyed a successful season last year, there are rumors that Palace might consider selling Edouard to help fund the move for Eddie Nketiah. Celtic, Edouard’s former club, have reportedly expressed interest in bringing him back to Scotland.
In addition to strengthening their attack, Palace are also pursuing defensive reinforcements. Wolfsburg’s Maxence Lacroix and Wolves’ Rayan Ait Nouri have been linked with moves to Selhurst Park. Glasner is determined to improve his squad and secure better results this season.
