Antoine Semenyo extends contract with Bournemouth until 2029

Ghana striker Antoine Semenyo has signed a new five-year contract with Bournemouth, extending his stay at the club until June 2029.

The Cherries rewarded the 24-year-old for his impressive first full season with the team.

Antoine Semenyo initially joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in January 2023 for approximately £9 million, signing a deal set to run until the summer of 2027. Despite a slow start due to injury, he found his stride under the guidance of manager Andoni Iraola last season.

Emerging as one of the Premier League’s standout players, Semenyo solidified his position as a starting right winger, contributing eight goals and two assists in 36 appearances. His remarkable performance earned him this new long-term contract.

Chief Executive Neill Blake commented on the decision to extend Semenyo’s contract, stating, “It has been clear for all to see the rate of Antoine’s development since joining 18 months ago. He has gone from strength to strength and enjoyed an incredible first full season with us. Agreeing on a new long-term contract was important for us to recognize his contribution as a key member of our squad. We’re excited to see this continue for years to come.”

Semenyo’s stellar form was highlighted by his nomination for the Premier League Player of the Month award in March. Throughout the season, he netted goals against top teams such as Liverpool, Burnley, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Wolverhampton Wanderers, including a memorable brace in the dramatic 4-3 comeback victory over Luton Town.

Semenyo’s journey has seen him spend time on loan at Bath City, Newport County, and Sunderland before establishing himself at Bristol City and eventually moving to the Cherries.

With two goals in 21 caps for Ghana, Semenyo’s career continues to rise, and Bournemouth fans can look forward to his continued contributions in the coming years.
