Ghanaian defender Alexander Djiku, made a successful return to action for Fenerbahçe as they secured a convincing 4-0 victory over Sivasspor in the Turkish Süpa Lig.
The 30-year-old center-back, who had missed the club’s Europa League clash against AZ Alkmaar due to injury, replaced Caglar Soyuncu in the 12th minute. Djiku’s return bolstered Fenerbahçe’s defensive line, contributing to a dominant performance.
Fenerbahçe dominated the match from the start, with Samet Akaydi opening the scoring in the 24th minute. Dušan Tadić doubled the lead in the 54th minute, before Sofyan Amrabat extended the advantage to 3-0 in the 82nd minute. Allan Saint-Maximin completed the rout with a late goal in the 94th minute. Alexander Djiku played a crucial role in the clean sheet, winning three aerial duels, making three interceptions, and completing 43 accurate passes. His performance earned him a 6.7 rating from Sofascore.
With this victory, Fenerbahçe maintained their second position in the league table with 26 points after 11 matches. Their next fixture is against Kayserispor on November 23rd, after the international break.
Other Ghanaians in Turkish League
Meanwhile, fellow Ghanaian defender Jerome Opoku made his 11th league appearance for İstanbul Başakşehir in their goalless draw against Beşiktaş.
Kingsley Schindler, another Ghanaian international, came on as a substitute for Samsunspor in their 3-2 loss to league leaders Galatasaray. This was his 12th league appearance for the club this season.
