Ghana defender Alexander Djiku has returned to training with Fenerbahce after missing Ghana’s September 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers due to injury.
The 30-year-old centre-back picked up a knock in Fenerbahce’s match against Alanyaspor just before the international break, ruling him out of Ghana’s games against Angola and Niger.
However, Djiku has made progress in his recovery and underwent individual training on Thursday at the Fenerbahce training complex.
While he remains doubtful for this weekend’s game against Kasimpasa, Djiku is expected to fully recover in time for the derby against Galatasaray a week later. The defender has been a key figure for Fenerbahce and manager Jose Mourinho at the start of the new season, with the Turkish club remaining unbeaten in the Super Lig so far.

Ghana defender Alexander Djiku thrilled with Fenerbahce’s first win of the season
Ghana coach Otto Addo will be hoping that Djiku stays fit ahead of next month’s crucial AFCON qualifier double-header against Sudan.
The Black Stars will need their experienced defender available as they look to secure their place in the 2025 tournament.
Djiku’s return to training is a positive sign for both Fenerbahce and Ghana, as they aim to maintain their strong starts to the season and qualify for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
